The Mediation Institute is proud to be associated with the Law Society of South
Africa in driving an initiative to create awareness amongst attorneys about the
power and potential of the process of mediation for their clients. To this end it
has been extensively involved in the drafting of training materials and will be
involved in the implementation of the program with LEAD later this year.
The Institute also ran a pilot project at the Durban School for Legal Practice in
November 2006, incorporating mediation training into the practical legal training
for candidate attorneys. Because of the success of the project, the mediation training
will form a compulsory component of the course in the future
